Refreshing Morning Starts

Sunrise at my local beach
To me, there’s no better way of starting the day than with a refreshing morning ritual. Whether it’s something you do every day, a couple of times a week, or just whenever you can. Doing something you love that kick starts the body, clears the mind and invigorates the soul... sets a good base for a good day ahead.

Trust me... I know the feeling of slight lack of motivation some mornings when the alarm wakes you and you lie there thinking ‘hmmm do I really want to get up and do what I’d planned?’, but... the feeling you get inside when you get that drive and motivation to get up is great! The feeling you get when you’re walking, swimming, riding to get the paper, doing yoga or whatever it may be, is invigorating, though neither as good as how empowered you are afterwards, the energy you seem to have that leaks into the rest of your day and out through the smile on your face.

The beach, for me, is at its most beautiful and peaceful early in the morning. It’s one of my favourite places to be. Hopping out from under the cosy doona, putting swimmers straight on and making my way to the beach for a good walk and dip in the waves is number 1 on my morning ritual list. Number 2 would be going to do laps at the outdoor pool nice and early. Both are so refreshing – the water wakes you up, makes you ready for whatever the day brings. I love the quiet of the beach, seeing the sun rise, and seeing other people scattered around feeling as good as I do about being the first few people on the fresh sand and in the water for that day.

My Mum joined me on the beach one morning - she didn't want to get out of the water! A perfect start!

The somewhat older beach goers that dwell on the sand, in the water and on their surfboards, still with so much talent and energy, are who a lot of the time motivate me to keep it up. They seem so relaxed, though being retired might have a lot to do with that ;-) nonetheless they seem happy with their morning ritual.
Don’t get me wrong, some days on a day off, a sleep in takes priority, especially when working shift work... a girls gotta get her sleep! Otherwise this girl gets herself up and to the water. Love it

Of course not every morning can be taken up with such refreshing starts, when work, kids, rain, or other aspects of our lives take priority, but when there’s a morning free for your favourite way to start your day then go for it! Just do it! You know how good it makes you feel, and if you don’t know, then get to know it! Get to love the feeling! Be proud of yourself for having the drive to get out from under your fluffy doona and make the best of your day, because you’ll never get that day back!
